AHPP Sets Program at Bentonville Library

AHPP EDUCATION COORDINATOR TO PRESENT PROGRAM AT BENTONVILLE LIBRARY

LITTLE ROCK–Shelle Stormoe, education coordinator for the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, will make a presentation on historic preservation and local history at the Bentonville Public Library at 405 South Main Street at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 14, AHPP Director Frances McSwain announced today.

Stormoe will present “History in Your Backyard,” a program on the history of Bentonville and local sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the country's official list of historically significant properties, including the Peel House, the Benton County Courthouse, the Benton County Jail, the Benton Poor Farm Cemetery, the Bentonville train station, and several private homes.

The AHPP is the agency of the Department of Arkansas Heritage responsible for identifying, evaluating, registering and preserving the state’s cultural resources. Other agencies are the Arts Council, the Delta Cultural Center, the Old State House Museum, the Natural Heritage Commission, the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center and the Historic Arkansas Museum.
