2019 Tours

Arkansas Historic Preservation Program - Tuesday, December 11, 2018

The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program’s “Walks Through History” and “Sandwiching in History” tours will visit historic properties across the state during 2019.

In the “Walks Through History” program, AHPP historians provide free guided walking tours of historic structures and districts across Arkansas. Most tours begin at 11 a.m. on Saturdays. The 2019 schedule includes:

  • Mar. 9, Downtown Piggott, co-sponsored by the Hemingway Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center
  • May 18, Harrison Courthouse Square Historic District, co-sponsored by the Boone County Heritage Museum
  • Sept. 21, Lake Village Historic District, co-sponsored by the Lakeport Plantation and the Lake Village Chamber of Commerce
  • Nov. 9, Calico Rock Historic District, co-sponsored by the Calico Rock Museum.

The American Institute of Architects offers two HSW continuing education learning unit credits for members who attend a “Walks Through History” tour.

The “Sandwiching in History” tour series targets Pulaski County structures and sites. The noontime series includes a brief lecture and tour of the subject property. Participants are encouraged to bring their lunches with them. “Sandwiching in History” tours will be heldheld in 2019 at the following locations:

  • Jan. 4, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 6401 W. 32nd St., Little Rock
  • Feb. 1, Mosaic Templars State Temple, 906 S. Broadway, Little Rock
  • March 1, Rock Island Railroad Bridge, 1200 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock
  • April 6, USS Hoga, 120 Riverfront Park Dr., North Little Rock
  • May 3, Matthews-Storey House, 8115 Ascension Rd., Little Rock
  • June 7, Irv Daniel House, 1622 Waterside Dr., North Little Rock
  • July 12, War Memorial Stadium, 1 Stadium Dr., Little Rock
  • Aug. 2, Stebbins & Roberts Building, 1300 E. 6th St., Little Rock
  • Sept. 6, Ferncliff Camp, 1720 Ferncliff Rd., Little Rock
  • October 4, Mills-Davis House, 523 E. 6th St., Little Rock
  • Nov. 1, Vestal Smokestack, 1600 Rockwater Blvd., North Little Rock
  • Dec. 6, U.S Arsenal Building, 9th and Commerce streets, Little Rock.
