AHPP Hosts Free Cemetery Preservation Workshop in Cleveland County

Arkansas Historic Preservation Program - Wednesday, August 29, 2018

 

The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program will host a free cemetery preservation workshop at the Rowell Cemetery in Cleveland County on September 29.

Rusty Brenner of Texas Cemetery Preservation will lead a free cemetery conservation workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, at Rowell Cemetery, located at U.S. Highway 63 and Cole Road. The workshop will focus on how to clean, re-set and repair tombstones, as well as instructions on cemetery maintenance, suitable cleaning products and proper techniques to use. Registration is limited to 40 people.

The AHPP is the Department of Arkansas Heritage division responsible for identifying, evaluating, registering and preserving the state’s cultural resources. Other divisions are the Arkansas Arts Council, the Delta Cultural Center in Helena, the Old State House Museum, the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission, the Historic Arkansas Museum and the Arkansas State Archives.
