AHPP to Hold Cemetery Iconography Lecture in Elm Springs

Arkansas Historic Preservation Program - Wednesday, March 15, 2017

LITTLE ROCK–The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program will present a gravestone iconography lecture in Elm Springs on Wednesday, March 29.

The free lecture – “Flora, Fauna and Faces: Reading Cemetery Symbolism” – by AHPP Special Projects Historian Holly Hope is sponsored by the Washington County Cemetery Preservation Group and will take place at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, at the Elm Springs Heritage Center at 106 Water Avenue in Elm Springs.

The AHPP is the Department of Arkansas Heritage agency responsible for identifying, evaluating, registering and preserving the state’s cultural resources. Other agencies are the Arkansas Arts Council, the Delta Cultural Center in Helena, the Old State House Museum, the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission, the Historic Arkansas Museum and the Arkansas State Archives.
