Cemetery Preservation Program: El Dorado

Arkansas Historic Preservation Program - Wednesday, March 06, 2019

 

Holly Hope, special projects historian for the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, for a cemetery preservation program, Saturday, May 25, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Presbyterian Cemetery, South Washington Avenue, El Dorado, Arkansas. While free to the public, attendees are urged to register by contacting Hope at [email protected] or calling (501) 324-9148.

The workshop will feature instruction by Rusty Brenner of Texas Cemetery Restoration, LLC. Guests will receive hands-on training in the proper methods of maintenance and repair of gravestones. Attendees are urged to bring knee pads, gloves, stools and other items to make their work more comfortable.

Rusty Brenner has brought his decades of experience in cemetery restoration to Arkansas many times. His direction has benefited several of the state’s burial grounds, cemetery associations, maintenance teams, funeral home personnel and family members. 

Lunch will be served at the Presbyterian Cemetery. Please indicate at registration if you need a vegetarian option. Parking for the workshop is at the cemetery. Tents will be provided in case of rain.
